Sunday Giveaway - Crinkle Cutter with Black Handle May 11 2014

This week for our giveaway I was thinking of a basic item. Something that most children can use. An everyday item. Something for the kitchen.

Crinkle Cutters are so popular with Montessori families because they allow a very young child to participate in food preparation. I have seen toddlers delighted once they've realised that they have cut the fruit!

I always have my children use the crinkle cutters similar to how Otis is using it in the above photograph, always with two hands on the handle. I started with my children on banana and apple. With hard fruits and vegetables I still cut the food first so it lies flat on the board - I don't want the food rolling away from the child. For example I will cut the potato in half and then have Otis use the crinkle cutter and cut it into pieces.

At the moment it's perfect for Otis to cut vegetables to go into our slow cooker (it's a thirty minute job for him!). Think snack time (Apple, Pear, Banana, Carrot, Melon), salads (Cucumber, Carrot, Mushrooms), vegetables for roasting or for vegetable chips (Beet, Potato, Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, Zucchini, Squash, Eggplant). Please feel free to add your ideas or suggestions!

Today we have three (3) Crinkle Cutters with Black Handles for our giveaway. Each Crinkle Cutter will go to a different family.

To enter please leave a comment below in this news entry. This giveaway is open internationally. Please only one comment per family. Comments will close on Sunday 18th May at 11.59pm AEST. After comments close I will choose and notify the recipients via email.

Thank you for entering! The Crinkle Cutters will soon be on their way to Allyson, Gen and Amanda. Please check in this Sunday where I will be discussing and hosting a giveaway for a new concept - our Montessori Starter Kits
